Tue, November 18,2008:
After NB "upgraded" the 991 to th 992, I had serious knee and shin issues. RRS and NB both recommended the 1223. Big mistake!! These absolutely KILL me. I have even worse issues with my knees, my IT band, and with my plantar fascia. And they make me run flat-footed. I'm eagerly awaiting the 99...

best shoe I've ever ran in. these 1224 stink. they're like plastic vs. the 1223's. well done NB, open your eyes.

205 lbs, 40+ mi/wk. Used these for 250 miles. They helped knee pain and enjoyed the wide toe box. However, they seemed to wear and break down early. Satisfied but not evoerly pleased, will try another shoe next.

It's a well-made shoe with a lot of cushioning si I'll give it 2 stars, but it just wasn't for me. The toebox is huge, it's very wide and gave me blisters in the 1st metatarsal and the inside of the heel as well as shin splints. Felt heavy and clunky too. I'll be exchanging them after only 75 miles.

Excellent shoe! I started with this shoe November of 2007 in which I was 6'0 and was 215lbs. By May of 2008 I was a solid 188lbs. and was running 3-5 miles a day compared to trying to walk a mile in a half. Now I'm looking forward to the 1224's to hurry up in the mail.

I'm 5'8" 150#, run 5-6 miles/day at a fast pace and do a few full marathons a year. These shoes were recommended for my running type. First observation was the heal show significant wear within the first few months but the worst issue is I develop a blister on the outside ball behind my right toe....

This is a follow-up to my July review. Been training in this shoe for a year now and can find absolutely nothing negative about it. People tell me they look great and I know they perform superbly for someone my size (5'-10", 170 lb. race wt.) with slight over-pronation. Being an older runner, I've t...

I started with the 1221s and moved on to the 1222s. The 21s were awesome, the 22s never felt right, and the 23s are the best shoe I've ever run in. I bought another pair immediately after my first running session to alternate with. I hope they're replacing it with something as good, because these wi...

Have no idea why NB would discontinue this shoe because it's awesome. For my build (5'-10" & 175-180 lbs) and training routine (15-20 miles/wk), I haven't found anything in the Brooks or Asics lines that works as well. Very light with great cushioning. Have two pair in rotation; planning to order a ...

Great shoes, first New Balance I have ever owned and has really impressed me. This is a great gym shoe and after years of wearing nikes I will stick with NB for life. Shoe has great cushioning and perfect stability for a guy my size 5'11" 205, but is surprising lighter than I expected.

Just ran 6 miles out of the box. They felt great! I have a large frame (5'10', 220); so that helps too. I wanted to find a shoe with the cushioning stability of the Saucony Hurricane 9. I would highly

I'm a large runner (6'3" - 200 lb) and I love this shoe. Have over 150 miles on my 1st pair and I have stocked up on 3-more pair since. I pronate a bit with medium arches, and haven't had any issues with the shoe. Great shoe for 10K or longer distances. Would look at new 903 for speedwork or 5K...

I'm a medium built runner (5'-9", 180), med. arch, and over pronate with one foot more than the other. Just bought a 2nd pair to put into my running routine (15-20 mile/wk); thinking about purchasing a 3rd pair since NB is discontinuing this model. Don't understand why NB is taking this action since...

This is my first serious pair of New Balance running shoes as I have been a Mizuno Wave Renegade guy for a while now. I got these and put about 25 miles on them before running the Costa del Luz Half Marathon here in Spain. Decent. Not great, but decent. The cushioning seems to fade just a bit at...

Just ran 10 miles out of the box. They felt great! I have a mild arch and I pronate more on one foot than the other. Also, I have a medium frame (5'11', 168); so that helps too. Fri, April 11,2008:
At 6'1, 210 lbs, multiple hamstring pulls since third run; comfortable, good-looking shoe for cardio machine and weight training, but sub-par stability and cushioning for 15+ miles/week road work. I've used numerous pairs of 1220s - great to sometimes excessive stability, but rarely ever injured. ...

I have worn these shows through numerous 10k, half-marathon, and marathons since back with the NB 1220. The shoe is a little on the heavy side, but I like the cushioning with a Spenco Cross Trainer insert. At 6'1" and 225, this is a good shoe for heavy runners. I had tried other but this is the b...

I'm a big runner...6'3" 260lbs! I ran two marathons back to back in October in this shoe. I usually can break down a pair of shoes in a few months. I'm surprise how long this pair has held up.

I'm a big runner 6'3 230lbs and I love this shoe....I used to wear Asics Gel-Kayano but with recent models they have gone downhill and provide very little support for me. This shoe feels so comfortable and has nice snug support for the long haul without being too heavy. I tried a bunch of shoes...

I'm 215 pound runner upgrading from the 1221 to the 1223 and they are great. Overall cushion is better than the 1221 especially in the forefoot but its not too soft either. The fit is better and the shoe feels much lighter with the same stability. The toe box is slightly higher but after 10 miles th...

They're comfortable for a big runner like me with a wide forefoot. I just find them too soft to run in. My ankle starts hurting in about a mile, because these are too squishy. it's almost like I have to put in too much effort into taking the next step... I'll stick with the brooks adrenaline gts 7 ...
